Kids get excited by anticipation, that feeling that something is coming. On the change table or at the dinner table, start singing their favourite song…stop… and wait for your child’s reaction before singing again. Let the laughter begin!
Singing emphasises the boundaries between words that are not as easy to pick up in regular speech for our youngest language learners. Stopping…and starting a song again will reinforce the rhythm of language – and it works before they’re even able to sing along with you!
