As we grow up, we learn to move quickly from one page of a book to the next, keeping the story moving along. But staying on the same page and pointing and repeating things is an important way for kids to learn.
It doesn’t take long for children to memorise the stories in their favourite books, so take the time to not just read the words but look at the whole page and focus on things that are not mentioned in the text. You’ll be introducing extra vocabulary and growing your child’s mind as you encourage them to find something new with every read.
Plus you get to savour the happy moment together for a little bit longer!
